Smart and Skilled is a reform of the NSW vocational education and training system that is designed to give people the chance to update their skills they need to get a job and advance their careers. Smart and Skilled will come into force in January 1st, 2015. If you are thinking of studying at TAFE, it is important that you understand how much each qualification (or course) will cost you as your fee will most likely be increased.

For new students the new fees for all qualifications have changed and it depends on a variety of factors such as:
  • Whether you are a new student or a re-enrolling student as there is a transition period. Please check with customer service.
  • Whether this is your first or second qualifications or whether you have a higher qualifications
  • Qualification or course that you will be undertaking
  • Whether that qualification is on the government approved list
  • Whether you are a concession holder or you have a disability

For new or current students please note the following:

  • Cost is based on per qualification not on duration. For example, prior to 2015, part time students used to pay per semester but now its based on per qualification regardless of the duration. Howver with the Smart & Skilled changes, the cost is per qualification. You can view the Smart & Skilled price list given below or see the following table as a guide. If not sure, please call the customer service centre on 9469 8540 for more details
  • TAFE understands that courses are expensive so you have a choice of making payments via two installments. Please call the customer service centre on 9469 8540 for more details.
